R&D&I: Innovation and Technology at the Service of Hydraulics

At OLIOMATIC we carry out systematic industry-based studies, combining technical, cultural, and social knowledge to develop new hydraulic applications and solutions that meet the needs of multiple industrial sectors.

Our advanced technology projects undergo rigorous testing, ensuring quality, reliability, and viability before incorporating them as standard features in our hydraulic power units and double-acting cylinders.

Self-Filtering System for Hydraulic Cylinders: Extreme Cleanliness Without Maintenance

All our hydraulic power units incorporate a patented self-cleaning filter, known as the KIDNEY SYSTEM, which keeps the hydraulic circuit in a permanent state of cleanliness and filtration at 3 microns, achieving ideal results and greatly extending the oil life of the circuit.

This self-filtering system for hydraulic cylinders requires no operator intervention and purges automatically, ensuring perfect operation of all components and valves, with a complete absence of breakdowns and incidents.

Optimised Rod Guidance for Hydraulic Power Units

The mechanical guidance of double-acting cylinder rods maintains an optimal guidance RATIO between the guidance length and the rod diameter.

This ensures greater capacity for absorbing stresses and radial loads in extreme applications with irregular and uncontrolled external loads.

Sealing in the rod area is achieved with double STEAPSEAL and REAMSEAL gaskets, which also ensure correct lubrication of the chrome-plated rod surface.

Additionally, a double-lip external wiper is fitted to reinforce sealing and prevent the entry of atmospheric particles that settle on rod surfaces into the cylinder interior.

Laser Welding in Hydraulic Cylinders: Precision, Strength, and Reliability

As part of our commitment to innovation, OLIOMATIC has developed its own laser welding system for hydraulic cylinders, original worldwide, applied to the manufacturing of high-performance laser-welded cylinders.

Laser welding of hydraulic cylinders (LASER-BEAM WELDING”, LBW) uses a highly concentrated laser beam that enables precise fusion of materials, minimising the heat-affected zone. Through deep penetration mode or keyhole welding, a homogeneous, deep, and continuous weld is achieved, even at high thicknesses and in a single pass.

This process offers significant technical advantages:

  • Minimal part deformation and reduction of internal stresses.
  • Narrow weld beads with high aesthetic quality.
  • Deep, clean, and homogeneous welds with high repeatability.
  • Possibility of process automation and traceability.
  • Reduction of rework and post-processing.

The development is supported by prior structural studies, stress and fatigue analyses, as well as weld macrographs, which verify the homogeneity of the seam, the degree of penetration, and the correct formation of the fusion dart, ensuring strong and durable joints in demanding industrial applications.
